HSE site blitz shows poor results
A total of 93 sites involving 95 contractors were visited by HSE Inspectors issuing 17 prohibition notices at 17 sites during the month-long campaign in the West Midlands
A prohibition notice is issued when, in the inspectors opinion, activities present an immediate danger of serious personal injury. The prohibition notices were issued due to activities such as a lack of edge protection for major roof works, incomplete scaffolds in use, large gaps in scaffold platforms and missing guard rails.
The visits were aimed at stopping dangerous practices and raising awareness of construction site risks to help prevent death and injury. The inspection initiative focused on refurbishment or roofing work. Inspectors made unannounced visits to ensure sites are managing work at height safely and all sites are kept in good order and in a reasonable state of cleanliness.
Have you concentrated on the top risks on site and are they in good order? Are they working effectively?
- Can people fall from height?
- Can materials fall from height?
The Working at Height Regulations have been in force for some time now and you must be fully compliant to prevent prohibition notices; for more help on this, contact Andrew today on 07870 777303
